Who I Am
I'm a filmmaker, writer, and music producer working at the intersection of artificial intelligence and human storytelling. The GMS Project is my ongoing experiment: what does it mean to make art when the machines are as capable as the people?
Over the past decade I've directed AI-generated films, written narrative systems for games, composed for brands, and produced music that draws from hip hop, amapiano, R&B, and afrobeats. The common thread is an obsession with craft — with the gap between what's technically possible and what's actually moving.

How I Work
Twelve years across three creative disciplines has produced a set of working principles that are not aspirational — they are operational. This is how Gerald actually works, every day, on every project.
01
Gerald operates on the belief that the difference between good and excellent is almost always a decision to care more. Every project — regardless of scope or budget — receives the same obsessive attention to detail that defines his best work. He has never delivered a project he was not proud of, and he never will.
02
The best work comes from the edges of what's known. Gerald consistently works at the frontier — exploring AI tools before they're mainstream, experimenting with genre combinations before they're fashionable, and applying ideas from one discipline to problems in another. His creative process is fundamentally cross-domain.
03
Despite the breadth of his individual skills, Gerald is most effective as a creative partner. He listens before he speaks, asks the uncomfortable questions that clarify the brief, and brings a generosity to collaboration that makes the people around him better. His clients regularly return — not just because the work is good, but because working with him is.
04
Creativity without reliability is just a hobby. Gerald treats every deadline as a commitment — not to a date, but to a person. He plans backwards from deliverables, communicates proactively when challenges arise, and has a 100% on-time delivery rate across more than a decade of professional work.
05
Beautiful work that says nothing is just decoration. Gerald's output — whether film, music, or writing — is built around something to say. He engages with the cultural, emotional, and conceptual dimensions of every project, producing work that resonates beyond the initial impression.
06
The world changes too fast for fixed methodologies. Gerald's tools, techniques, and thinking are in constant evolution. He allocates genuine time to learning — not to stay current, but to stay ahead. His adoption of AI filmmaking in 2022 was not a response to a trend; it was the logical next step of a practitioner who never stopped experimenting.
“I'm not interested in being the most technically proficient person in any room. I'm interested in making work that matters — and then finding whatever tool, technology, or collaborator helps me do that better.”
— Gerald Sismayi
Gerald's journey into AI filmmaking began not with a fascination with the technology, but with a creative problem: how do you tell visually ambitious stories without a studio budget? Conventional answer: you don't. His answer: you build the tools that make it possible.
Starting in 2021, Gerald began systematically experimenting with AI image generation tools — not as a gimmick, but as a genuine replacement for the production infrastructure that independent filmmakers have never had access to. The result was the ESCAPE Pipeline — a modular, human-directed workflow that uses AI at the visual layer while preserving complete narrative and editorial control.
What makes this approach distinctive is its relationship with craft. Gerald doesn't prompt and post. He storyboards, directs, and edits with the same discipline as a conventional filmmaker — AI simply gives him the visual vocabulary to execute what he sees in his mind, regardless of what it costs to physically produce.
The ESCAPE catalogue now contains 8 films, including feature-length narratives, experimental art films, and ambient cinema — all produced independently, all reaching audiences that studio productions rarely touch.
